Toyota Auris rear window price, by year

Rear-window pricing varies with generation and trim specification. Earlier Auris models (2007–2012) without solar-control glass are typically the most straightforward and affordable to replace. Later variants (2012–2019) with solar-control coating and encapsulated trim tend to be higher due to the additional features and the precision required to match them.

The presence of an alarm wire adds modest complexity but doesn't dramatically shift cost — the replacement glass simply includes the same circuit. Your final price depends on the exact variant identified during the quote process.

Year Price range Quote
2019 £524 £527 Price my 2019
2018 £524 £640 Price my 2018
2017 £524 £640 Price my 2017
2016 £524 £640 Price my 2016
2015 £524 £640 Price my 2015
2014 £524 £640 Price my 2014
2013 £464 £640 Price my 2013

The displayed range is an indicator — the final price is produced by the quote form after you confirm your variant. Older Auriss can still be booked.

Auris owner

Very impressed

This comment actually applies to two orders for the same car and carried out together. I was not present when the work was done, but i'm told that the technician was excellent and the work was concluded efficiently and well. We've already recommended your service to several people, but of course we hope not to have to use you too often!

5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Toyota Auris rear window replacement

Booking your Auris rear-window replacement through UKCG takes just a few minutes — here's the journey from quote to fitting day.

  1. 1

Use our online widget to answer quick questions about your Auris (year, trim, features). You'll get an instant quote in under 60 seconds.

  2. 2

Proceed to checkout to confirm your booking — the whole process takes about two minutes.

  3. 3

Our parts team runs a detailed check to verify your exact glass specification, including encapsulation, alarm wire, and any solar-control coating.

  4. 4

You're matched with an approved fitter in your area who sources the correct replacement and arranges a fitting time that suits you.

  5. 5

On fitting day, expect the job to take typically 30–60 minutes of the fitter's time. A shattered rear window means shard cleanup is a major part of the work — your fitter will remove as much broken glass as they can reach, but small shards can lodge in places that need deeper access, so we recommend a professional valet afterwards.

  6. 6

Your fitter confirms the drive-away time before leaving, and you're covered by our two-year workmanship and glass warranty.

Once booked, you can track your appointment and contact the fitter directly if anything changes.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Auris?

Most Toyota Auris rear-window replacements can be fitted at your home or workplace as a mobile visit — it's the default option and the most convenient. Since rear-window replacement doesn't involve ADAS calibration (cameras live behind the windscreen, not the rear), there's no technical reason to visit a workshop.

Your fitter can complete the job on your driveway or work car park, weather permitting. If weather is poor on the day or your location makes mobile access difficult, workshop fitting is available as an alternative — discuss this when you book.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen5
    2007–2019

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Green3
    2007–2019

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

  • Grey Privacy2
    2012–2019

Dark grey tint on rear windows provides privacy and reduces interior heat and glare.

    What it means

Dark grey tint, formally known as privacy glass, is a factory-applied tint created through a deep-dipping process during glass manufacture. The pigment is infused into the inner surface of the glass, darkening the rear windows (and sometimes rear doors) significantly more than the front. This reduces heat transmission, minimises glare, and obscures the interior from outside view. It's standard on the rear half of many modern vehicles.

    How to tell

Compare the rear side windows and rear window (backlight) to the front side windows — the rear glass will be noticeably darker. Check your vehicle documents or ask your dealership service centre if you're unsure whether your car left the factory with privacy glass.

    Replacement impact

Dark grey tinted glass must be sourced from the Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) or dealership to ensure colour and transmission match your vehicle's existing rear glass. The tint is integral to the glass itself, not a surface coating, so aftermarket non-tinted glass will look visibly mismatched. Replacement does not require any calibration and follows standard bonded-glass cure times for rear windows.

  • Solar Control2
    2007–2019

Solar control glass absorbs infrared rays to reduce heat and improve cabin comfort.

    What it means

Solar control is a coating applied to the windscreen that absorbs the sun's infrared radiation rather than allowing it to pass through into the cabin. This reduces solar heat gain, helping to keep the interior cooler and more comfortable, particularly in warm weather or direct sunlight. The coating is transparent to visible light, so it doesn't darken the windscreen or affect visibility. It's a passive thermal management feature that works continuously whenever the sun is shining on the glass.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or contact your dealership service centre to confirm whether solar control glass is fitted. Some manufacturers list it as 'solar control windscreen', 'heat-reflective glass', or 'thermal management glass'. It's a factory-fitted feature and won't be visibly obvious from outside the car — the coating is integral to the glass itself.

    Replacement impact

Solar control glass is a factory-fitted specification. When replacing the windscreen, a solar control variant must be sourced to match the original. This is a standard glass type with no special fitting implications or calibration requirements. Cure and drive-away times follow normal windscreen bonding procedures. Confirm with your fitter that the replacement glass includes solar control to maintain the original thermal performance.

About the Toyota Auris

The Toyota Auris was in continuous production from 2007 to 2019, spanning two main generations: the first-generation hatchback (2007–2012) and the second-generation model (2012–2019). Both generations featured straightforward rear windows with toughened glass as standard.

Most Auris variants include an encapsulated rubber gasket pre-fitted to the rear window, meaning your replacement arrives as a ready-to-fit unit. Many models also carry an alarm-wire circuit laminated into the glass for anti-theft functionality, which must be restored during replacement. Solar-control coating appears on roughly half of the active variants in our catalogue, helping reduce cabin heat on sunnier days.

Toyota's ADAS systems (Toyota Safety Sense) became more common across the range from the mid-2010s onwards, though rear-window replacement itself doesn't require calibration — camera brackets and sensors live behind the windscreen, not the rear panel.
