SsangYong Kyron rear window price, by year

Rear-window prices are stable across the Kyron's production span because the glass specification has remained consistent. Variation comes mainly from the toughened-glass supplier available at the time of your booking and any aftermarket or OEM sourcing preferences.

5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your SsangYong Kyron rear window replacement

Booking a Kyron rear-window replacement through UKCG takes just minutes online, followed by a straightforward fitting day.

  1. 1

Complete a quick online quote via our guided quiz — takes about a minute and covers your Kyron's year and features.

  2. 2

Choose your fitter from available specialists in your area and confirm your preferred fitting date.

  3. 3

On fitting day, your technician will remove the shattered rear glass and clean accessible shards before bonding the new toughened unit in place.

  4. 4

Shard cleanup is a major part of the job, but small pieces can lodge in places fitters can't easily reach — a professional interior valet afterwards is recommended for a thorough clean.

  5. 5

Your fitter confirms the drive-away time before leaving, typically within a couple of hours from the start of the job.

  6. 6

You're covered by our two-year warranty against any defects in glass or workmanship.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Kyron?

Rear-window replacement on the Kyron is typically carried out mobile at your address — your technician arrives with tools and materials to remove and bond the new glass on site.

No ADAS calibration is needed for rear-window work, so workshop visits are only necessary if you prefer a controlled environment or if weather is unsuitable for mobile fitting.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

What features does your Kyron have?

Tap a feature to see what it is, how to spot it on your car, and how it affects glass replacement. We confirm the exact match for your vehicle when you book.

  • Dark Grey1
    2006–2020

A tinted grey glass that's darker than the front windows but still lets you see through in daylight.

    What it means

Dark grey tint is a factory-fitted glass option that reduces glare and heat whilst maintaining visibility in normal daylight conditions. It sits between clear glass (front windscreen and windows) and privacy glass (rear windows on some models), offering a subtle aesthetic enhancement and mild thermal benefit. The tint is integral to the glass laminate or coating and cannot be applied or removed after manufacture.

    How to tell

Look at your rear window or rear side windows in daylight. If they appear noticeably darker than your front windscreen but you can still see clearly through them from outside, you have dark grey tint.

    Replacement impact

When replacing dark grey glass, the replacement must match the original tint specification to maintain consistency with your vehicle's remaining windows and factory thermal performance. Dark grey tint is specified at manufacture and must be sourced as OEM or OE-equivalent glass; standard clear replacements will not match. No calibration is required for this glass type.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen1
    2006–2020

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

About the SsangYong Kyron

The SsangYong Kyron was produced from 2006 to 2020, serving as a compact SUV across multiple generations. Rear windows on the Kyron are toughened glass, designed to withstand the typical impacts and temperature swings of UK driving.

The rear window features dark grey tinting as standard across the model range, which helps reduce cabin heat and glare. Fitting hardware is pre-installed on the replacement glass, allowing your technician to set and bond the unit quickly and securely.
