Earlier models without heating typically cost less than later variants with the heated specification. Single-rear-door configurations (with one quarter window) differ from dual-rear-door layouts (with two).

Really good service - a little delayed as my windscreen was hard to get hold of, but much faster than competitors. On the day Richard and Luke were great and I have a new windscreen :-) Very happy and would use again.

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Renault Trafic rear window replacement

Booking your Trafic rear-window replacement through UK Car Glass is straightforward and takes just a couple of minutes online.

  1. 1

Answer a quick guided quiz about your Trafic's year, trim, and configuration — this identifies your exact rear-window variant.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote and choose your preferred fitting date.

  3. 3

You'll be matched with a local approved fitter who will contact you to confirm arrival time.

  4. 4

On the day, your fitter arrives with your replacement glass matched to your factory specification and clears accessible glass shards from the interior.

  5. 5

Because rear windows shatter, we recommend a professional valet afterwards to ensure thorough shard cleanup from places fitters can't always reach on the day.

  6. 6

Your replacement comes with a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality.

It's a fast, transparent process backed by trusted fitters and Trustpilot reviews.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Trafic?

Most Renault Trafic rear-window replacements are fitted on a mobile basis at your location — your fitter arrives with the replacement glass and completes the job. No ADAS calibration is required for rear windows, so mobile fitting is the standard approach and typically completes within a couple of hours, depending on the variant.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Green8
    2001–2026

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

  • Solar Control8
    2001–2026

Solar control glass absorbs infrared rays to reduce heat and improve cabin comfort.

    What it means

Solar control is a coating applied to the windscreen that absorbs the sun's infrared radiation rather than allowing it to pass through into the cabin. This reduces solar heat gain, helping to keep the interior cooler and more comfortable, particularly in warm weather or direct sunlight. The coating is transparent to visible light, so it doesn't darken the windscreen or affect visibility. It's a passive thermal management feature that works continuously whenever the sun is shining on the glass.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or contact your dealership service centre to confirm whether solar control glass is fitted. Some manufacturers list it as 'solar control windscreen', 'heat-reflective glass', or 'thermal management glass'. It's a factory-fitted feature and won't be visibly obvious from outside the car — the coating is integral to the glass itself.

    Replacement impact

Solar control glass is a factory-fitted specification. When replacing the windscreen, a solar control variant must be sourced to match the original. This is a standard glass type with no special fitting implications or calibration requirements. Cure and drive-away times follow normal windscreen bonding procedures. Confirm with your fitter that the replacement glass includes solar control to maintain the original thermal performance.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen6
    2001–2026

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Heated Windscreen4
    2001–2026

Heated windscreens use embedded wires to quickly clear ice and condensation in cold weather.

    What it means

A heated windscreen is integrated with a fine mesh of electrical wires embedded within the glass itself. When activated, these wires generate heat to warm the windscreen surface, helping to rapidly clear frost, ice, and condensation during cold or damp conditions. This feature improves visibility and safety in winter driving and reduces reliance on engine heat and demister air, which can be slower on very cold mornings.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or contact your dealership service centre — they can confirm whether your model includes this feature. Look for a dashboard symbol (usually a windscreen icon with heat waves) when you activate the function, or check your infotainment settings for a heating or climate option linked to the windscreen. Some vehicles have a dedicated button on the stalk or console.

    Replacement impact

Heated windscreens require replacement glass to be of the correct heated specification — standard unheated glass cannot be fitted. The replacement glass must be sourced to match your vehicle's exact heated-wire configuration. Installation is straightforward, though the technician will confirm the heating element is functioning correctly after fitting. No calibration is required for this feature.

  • Unheated Rear Windscreen2
    2001–2014

A rear window without heating elements — selected when the model's standard specification includes a heated rear glass option.

    What it means

An unheated rear window is a variant specification where the rear glass does not include integrated electric heating wires. Many vehicle models offer heated rear glass as standard or as an option to demist the window quickly in cold or wet conditions. An unheated rear window omits this feature entirely. It is a cost-conscious choice and remains fully functional for visibility and weather protection — demisting simply takes longer and relies on the vehicle's cabin heating system alone.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or service documentation. If your model range lists 'heated rear window' or 'rear demister' as a standard or optional feature and your car does not have it, you have an unheated variant. You can also look at the rear window itself — a heated rear window shows a faint pattern of horizontal heating wires when you look closely at the glass. An unheated window appears completely clear with no wire pattern visible.

    Replacement impact

Replacement glass must match your original specification. If your vehicle has an unheated rear window, the replacement must also be unheated — you cannot fit a heated variant without additional wiring and control-module work, which falls outside standard glass replacement scope. Conversely, if heated glass is standard for your model and you wish to stay unheated, confirm this choice at booking. No calibration is involved with rear-window replacement.

About the Renault Trafic

The Renault Trafic has been in continuous production since 2001, serving as a workhorse light commercial vehicle across multiple generations. The rear window is a critical component for visibility and safety, and all Trafic variants in our catalogue feature green-tinted glass as standard — a subtle tint hard to spot unless you look closely.

Every Trafic rear window in the catalogue also carries solar-control coating, which absorbs the Sun's infrared rays to keep the cabin cooler. Some variants feature heated rear glass as standard, whilst others offer the unheated specification — pricing reflects this difference. Depending on your Trafic's configuration, you may also have one or two additional rear quarter windows.
