Peugeot 306 rear window price, by year

Rear-window replacement costs vary based on whether your specific 306 variant includes encapsulation (a pre-fitted rubber gasket bonded to the glass edges) or comes with integrated fitting hardware such as clips or brackets. Models equipped with these features require the replacement panel to arrive pre-assembled, which can influence availability and final pricing.

5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Peugeot 306 rear window replacement

Booking your Peugeot 306 rear-window replacement is straightforward — here's what happens next.

  1. 1

Use our online quote tool to identify your exact 306 variant in about a minute, specifying the year and any trim details.

  2. 2

Our parts team confirms your glass specification — tint, encapsulation, and any hardware — within one business day.

  3. 3

You're matched with a local fitter approved by UKCG, available for mobile fitting at your address or workshop fitting if you prefer.

  4. 4

On fitting day, your fitter removes the shattered rear window and installs the replacement. Shard cleanup is part of the job, though small fragments can lodge in places fitters can't easily reach on the day — we recommend a professional interior valet afterwards for thorough detailing.

  5. 5

Drive-away time is confirmed by your fitter before they leave. Your replacement is covered by a two-year warranty against workmanship and manufacturing defects.

The entire process, from quote to booked appointment, typically takes under two minutes online.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your 306?

The Peugeot 306 (1993–2001) predates ADAS camera systems, so rear-window replacement does not require calibration. This means fitting can take place at your home or at a workshop — your choice. Your fitter will confirm the specific drive-away time on the day, based on the adhesive used and weather conditions.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

What features does your 306 have?

  • Heated Rear Windscreen3
    1993–2001

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Green2
    1993–2001

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

  • Clear1
    1993–2001Calibration varies by vehicle

Clear windscreen glass has no tint; most cars have a slight tint as standard.

    What it means

A clear windscreen contains no added tint layer. Most modern windscreens incorporate a subtle tint (typically blue, green, grey or bronze) as standard to reduce glare, provide UV protection, and improve cabin comfort. A genuinely clear windscreen is the absence of this tint. Clear glass is less common than tinted variants and is sometimes specified for aesthetic or operational reasons, though the tint difference is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

    How to tell

Lower your side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind it. If you see a noticeable colour cast (blue, green, grey or bronze) in the side glass, your windscreen has the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen specification in your service records.

    Replacement impact

Clear windscreen replacement uses the same installation process as any other windscreen. No special calibration or extended cure time applies. Sourcing is straightforward — clear glass is widely available as an aftermarket replacement. Installation time and drive-away restrictions follow standard windscreen replacement timings.

About the Peugeot 306

The Peugeot 306 was produced from 1993 to 2001 across a single generation, establishing itself as a practical compact hatchback popular across the UK market. Rear windows on the 306 are typically toughened glass, designed to shatter into small, manageable pieces in the event of impact rather than splintering into jagged shards.

Most variants carry a subtle green tint as standard — a feature many owners don't notice until they compare it side-by-side with clear glass. This tint is part of the factory specification and matches the windscreen tinting across the vehicle.
