Pricing for MX-3 rear-window replacement is straightforward because all variants in our catalogue carry the same rear-glass specification — there are no trim-level variations or ADAS systems to influence the cost. The main variable is geographic location and technician availability in your area.

5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Mazda MX-3 rear window replacement

Replacing your MX-3's rear window is a mobile-friendly job handled by a local technician from our network.

  1. 1

Complete a quick online quote using our model selector — takes about a minute and confirms your exact variant.

  2. 2

Our parts-check team verifies the correct glass specification for your MX-3.

  3. 3

You're matched with an approved fitter in your area who can accommodate your preferred date.

  4. 4

The fitter arrives with your replacement glass and removes the shattered window, clearing accessible shards as they work — typically 30–60 minutes of their time.

  5. 5

Once fitted and adhesive is set, your fitter confirms you're ready to drive.

  6. 6

After the job, we recommend booking a professional interior valet to remove any small shards that may have lodged in places the fitter couldn't reach during the fit.

Your replacement comes with a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your MX-3?

The MX-3's rear-window replacement is typically handled at your home or workplace by a mobile technician — there's no ADAS calibration or complex electronics involved, so a workshop visit isn't usually necessary. Your fitter will arrange the most convenient time and location.

  • Blue1
    1991–1998

Blue-tinted windscreens reduce glare and heat while maintaining a subtle, modern appearance.

    What it means

A blue tint is a light coloration applied to the windscreen glass, usually during manufacture. It reduces solar heat transmission and glare from sunlight, particularly on bright days or when driving into the sun. The tint is integral to the glass itself — not a separate film — and is chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance comfort, visibility, and aesthetic consistency with the vehicle's side windows and rear window. Most vehicles come with a green or blue tint as standard; the choice depends on the manufacturer's design and regional climate considerations.

    How to tell

Check your side windows by rolling one halfway down and holding a white piece of paper behind the glass. If you see a blue tint reflected in the glass, your windscreen will have the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen tint specification. The tint is visible when comparing the windscreen to clear glass, though it may be subtle and harder to spot on overcast days.

    Replacement impact

Blue-tinted replacement windscreens must match the original tint to maintain visual consistency with your side and rear windows. Most replacement glass is available in the correct tint through OE (original equipment) suppliers. There is no calibration requirement related to tint. The tint does not affect fitting time, cure time, or drive-away schedules. Ensure the replacement windscreen is specified with the blue tint to avoid a mismatched appearance.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen1
    1991–1998

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

About the Mazda MX-3

The Mazda MX-3 was produced from 1991 to 1998 as a compact, nimble sports coupé with a loyal following among enthusiasts. Its rear window is a straightforward toughened-glass design typical of vehicles from that era, reflecting the simpler glass engineering of the early 1990s.

Rear-window replacement on the MX-3 is a straightforward job because there's no ADAS calibration or integrated electronics to contend with — the glass is purely functional glazing. What owners should expect is that a shattered rear window arrives in fragments, and while your fitter will remove what's accessibly reachable during the fit, small shards can lodge in hard-to-reach places like under seats or in trim channels.
