Chevrolet Captiva rear window price, by year

Pricing varies based on the specific generation and optional features fitted to your Captiva. Models with acoustic or solar-control rear glass command slightly higher replacement costs due to the complexity of the glass composition. Generation differences also influence availability and fitment time.

2018 £392 £392 Price my 2018
2017 £392 £392 Price my 2017

5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Chevrolet Captiva rear window replacement

Booking your Captiva's rear-window replacement through UKCG is straightforward and takes just a few minutes.

  1. 1

Answer a short online quiz about your Captiva's year and features — no registration number needed.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote and choose your preferred fitting date and location.

  3. 3

Our team matches you with a nearby technician and confirms the exact glass variant before the job.

  4. 4

Your technician arrives with all tools and materials, removes the shattered rear glass, cleans accessible shards, and fits your new rear window with its matching tint and opening mechanism.

  5. 5

After fitting, allow time for the adhesive to cure — your technician will confirm the drive-away time on the day.

  6. 6

For a thorough interior clean after rear-window replacement, we recommend arranging a professional valet afterwards, as small shards can lodge in places fitters can't always reach during the job.

You're covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Captiva?

Most Captiva rear-window replacements are fitted mobile at your address. Your technician arrives with all necessary tools and can complete the job on your driveway in around 30–60 minutes, including shard cleanup. No ADAS calibration is involved with rear-window replacement, so workshop access is not required unless you prefer it.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Green1
    2006–2018

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen1
    2006–2018

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Open1
    2006–2018

An opening pane with hinged hardware, typically on rear quarters or van sides.

    What it means

An opening glass pane is a hinged or pivoting section of bodyglass designed to swing or tilt outward for ventilation or access. Commonly found on rear quarters of estates or vans, and on van side panels. Unlike fixed side windows or windscreens, opening panes are part of the vehicle's passive ventilation system and allow airflow without opening a door or window. The hinge and frame hardware are integral to the feature's function.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's side and rear quarter panels for hinged glass sections that swing outward. Ask your dealer or service centre whether your model includes rear quarter vents or van-side opening panels. Your handbook will list ventilation features. Opening panes are visually distinct from sliding or rolling windows — they pivot on visible hinges rather than moving vertically or horizontally.

    Replacement impact

UKCG handles opening-pane replacement on a bespoke basis — please contact us for a quote rather than using the automated quote tool. Replacement includes the glass pane and matching hinge hardware where supplied. Fitting time is typically brief as there is no adhesive cure or calibration required. The pane is held in place by mechanical hinges and seals, so you can use the vehicle immediately after fitting.

About the Chevrolet Captiva

The Chevrolet Captiva was produced from 2006 to 2018 across two generations, serving as a compact crossover with evolving glass specifications. Early models featured straightforward rear glass, while later variants introduced enhanced acoustic and tint options as the platform matured.

Rear-window replacement on the Captiva is straightforward, though shattered glass requires careful shard cleanup. All Captivas in our catalogue carry a green-tinted rear window and an openable rear quarter panel, both of which are matched during replacement to maintain factory specification and functionality.
